Ontario Bankruptcy Courthouse Map
This map shows which of Ontario’s five bankruptcy courthouses you file at, based on where you live. Bankruptcy and insolvency matters under the federal Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act are filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, organized by Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB) division. Not every Superior Court of Justice location handles bankruptcy. Filings across the province resolve to just five courthouses: Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, London, and Sudbury. Where do I file business or corporate bankruptcy in Ontario?
Corporate and business insolvency filings follow the same geography as personal ones. The matter is filed at the bankruptcy courthouse that serves the relevant location. For example, a business in Markham files at the Toronto courthouse, because York Region falls under Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Division 31.
Do I have to attend the courthouse in person?
Often not. Most bankruptcy documents can be filed without attending in person, through Ontario's Bankruptcy Submissions Online service.
