• CaseCheck. CaseCheck requires an account, and we collect your first name, last name, and email address when you register. Documents you upload are processed in your browser; the contents of an uploaded document are not transmitted to or retained by us. We retain only the file name of the document.

We run daily health checks on the Website and use security software to detect and block attacks. If a breach of security affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as soon as practicable, and in any event no later than 24 hours after we become aware of it.

8. Where Your Information Is Stored

Information we collect is stored in Canada, with two exceptions. We use Postmark, an email delivery service, to send the notification emails for our court dates finder tools. Postmark stores data in the United States. The only information Postmark holds is the email address you use to sign up for alerts, and at our request that email address is deleted from Postmark after 90 days. We also use a third-party analytics service that produces anonymous heatmaps showing how visitors interact with our pages. That service processes data in the United States. It is configured so that anything you type into a form is masked and not recorded.

Information stored in the United States may be accessible to United States courts, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities under the laws of that country.

9. Data Retention

Except as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law or regulation, we will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Under some circumstances we may anonymize your personal information so that it can no longer be associated with you. We reserve the right to use such anonymous and de-identified data for any legitimate business purpose without further notice to you or your consent.

CaseCheck. Where you have created a CaseCheck account, we retain the personal information (i.e., first name, last name and email) associated with that account for three months after the account is closed, after which it is deleted. Our other tools do not require an account and are not personalized, and we are therefore not able to identify which information relates to which user.

10. Accessing and Correcting Your Personal Information

It is important that the personal information we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal information changes. By law you have the right to request access to and to correct the personal information that we hold about you.

We may request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and your right to access, and to provide you with the personal information that we hold about you or make your requested changes.
