One important note: this map shows a daily snapshot, not live availability. The City publishes the count once each business day, so the numbers can run a few hours to a day behind, and spaces fill or open through the day. You can also dial 311 for other City services and respite sites. During extreme heat or cold the City opens cooling and warming centres. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
Why are some shelters not shown on the map?
A few locations have their address withheld to protect the safety of the people staying there, for example some programs serving women, youth, or people who have experienced violence. These still appear in the list above with their current availability and sector, and you reach them through Central Intake at 416-338-4766 rather than by getting directions.
