FAQ — Toronto Court Dates Monitoring Tool

Q: What is it?
This tool notifies you when certain types of court hearing dates become available in Toronto, Ontario. For example, let’s say you are looking to book a motion before an Associate Judge for September 2025, but none are available (for the moment). You can set up an alert and will receive an email notification when September 2025 dates become available to book.

Q: Is it available only in Toronto?
Yes. Superior Court only (for now).

Q. How do I use this?
Let’s use “Associate Judges Motions Under 75 Mins VIRTUAL” as an example. Take a look at the screenshot below.

As of July 2, 2025, the first available date is March 10, 2026. If you click on “Mar 10th 2026”, it will take you to the Court’s system, where you will be able to book that date. However, what if you want to know if any available dates open up before March 10, 2026? If so, fill in the “From date”, “To date”, and your email under “Want more dates? Set up an alert”, shown below:

In this example, once you click “Create Alert”, within a few minutes, you will receive an email notification confirming that you alert is active:

If any dates between July 1, 2025, and March 9, 2026, become available to book, you will get another email:

Q. What if I still don’t like the dates in your email notification?
Come back to courtdates.ca and create another alert.

Q. Are you affiliated with the Courts?
No. “Courtdates.ca” is an idea conceived by a former Toronto litigator, Tom Macintosh Zheng, and built by Adam Marciniak.

Q. Is there a fee to use this service?
No. It is free to use.

Q. Why this idea?
Delay is a serious issue in our courts, and we want to solve it. When cases/issues settle, any pre-booked hearing dates once again become available for the public to book. However, no one knows when this happens unless someone is constantly and manually checking the Court’s website. Courtdates.ca solves this issue by automatically checking the system for you and sending you an email notification when your desired dates become available.

Q. Are you using “AI”?
No.
